Export Certification Application Procedures

 

Since January 2008, OAM is able to assist organic operators in Malaysia to obtain certifications to the;

 

 1.

 National Organic Program (NOP), U.S.

 2.

 EU Regulation 834/2007, European Union

 3.

 Japan Agriculture Standards (JAS) for organic, Japan

 4.

 IFOAM Accredited Certification Programme

 

OAM is able to offer these services through its membership with the Certification Alliance (CertAll) . The first three certification are provided by ICEA and the last certification by ACT (See OAM Export Certification Service for more information).

More certification offer will come from Certification Alliance members in the future. However, the certifications listed above are more suitable to operators who are exporting their products abroad. OAM is still in the midst of developing a Domestic Quality Assurance programme for Malaysian organic operators who are only selling locally (See OAM Domestic Quality Assurance for more information).

The followings are the procedures for organic export certification application:

 

1.

 Download OAM ceritification fees list here

 

2.

Decide which certification programme you would like to apply for. Decision should be based on your target market.

 

3.

Inform OAM of your decision.

 

4.

OAM will send you relevant application forms

 

Note: Should you need assistant with filling in the forms OAM will send somebody to come over to your office with the undestanding you will complete the certification application process with OAM.

 

5.

Complete and submit the forms to OAM

 

6.

OAM will issue an offer letter and an invoice.

 

7.

OAM will forward your application to the relevant certification body(ies).

 

8.

OAM will set a date for inspection in consultation with you. The inspector might be from OAM (priority) or the relevant certification body(ies).

 

9.

OAM receive payment from you (must be before the inspection commence).

 

10.

On-site inspection

 

Note: If foreign inspector is used, OAM will send a staff to accompany you during the inspection.

 

11.

Inspector report submission.

 

12.

 Certification decision and organic certificate from the relevant certification body(ies)

 

 

Note: Please be informed that the payment made is a confirmation that you will get a certification decision, not a confirmation that you will get a  "positive" certification decision.
