OAM Networking Lunch,
25 Oct. 2007

The event went well. More interesting information took place even when only five turn-ups at the lunch, i.e. Mr. Phang Yih Phyng, Everprosper Food Industries S/B; Ms. Selina Gan, Country Farms S/B; Mr. Johnny Chong, AIC Exhibition S/B and Mr. Wong Kai Yuen, EcoGreen as the host.

Mr. Phang shared his experience in joining MATRADE in Anuga, i.e. a food industry exhibition, in Cologne, Germany. He said it was a good experience where he managed to get a good contact for his business. Through the contact he made at the exhibition he is now able to export containers of his products to the U.S. He also shared that the deal offered by MATRADE to join the exhibition was very atttractive for a small and medium industry. To be involved with such a high class world food industry exhibition it will be very costly without MATRADE funding.

Mr. Johnny Chong is the event manager for AIC Exhbition which will be organizing the ONPA 2007. He offered OAM members an intereting participation discount. For more information please visit ONPA webpage or get in touch with Mr. Johnny in person through johnny[at]5senses.com.my.

Jumat as Certifcation Officer for OAM shared with the group the OAM Export Certification Service fee schedule. The fee shchedule will be available for public on OAM website after finalisation. The group realise that OAM Export Certification will be very useful to local organic operators who are thinking of exporting their products overseas e.g. Everprosper and Country Farm. Jumat explained that for local operators who are operating and selling locally a different set of standard and certification services is under development, i.e. OAM Domestic Quality Assurance Service. This will assist the local operators to prepare themselves for a stricter international certification requirements should they choose to export their products in the future.

Attending a cooking workshop is one way to get a chef to divulge his culinary secrets.

There are many ways to hone your cooking skills.

You could watch and learn from your mother, grandmother or a friend who’s a chef. You could buy recipe books. You could follow the cooking shows – but putting theory into practice is never easy.

Perhaps cooking classes are best.
